Project overview

Travel Guide is a modern travel platform designed to help people discover destinations, plan trips, and manage travel experiences through one connected digital product. The project focused on creating a simple and engaging experience where users could explore destinations, compare options, organize travel plans, and access important information without feeling overwhelmed by large amounts of content. From destination discovery and trip planning to booking-related information and personalized recommendations, every part of the experience was designed around clarity, accessibility, and ease of use. The overall goal was to transform complex travel information into a structured and enjoyable experience that supports users throughout every stage of their journey, from inspiration to final travel plans.

User Research & Strategy

The project began with understanding how people search for destinations, compare travel options, organize itineraries, and make travel decisions. I explored common user behaviors, motivations, and challenges to identify where friction often occurs within digital travel experiences. Many travel products contain a large amount of information, so one of the main objectives was to simplify decision-making while helping users discover relevant content more efficiently. Based on these insights, I established a strategy focused on intuitive navigation, clear content hierarchy, personalized exploration, and smooth task completion. The research phase helped define the platform's key features, content structure, and interaction patterns while ensuring the experience remained approachable for users with different travel preferences and planning styles.

Information Architecture

I developed a clear information architecture to organize destinations, itineraries, accommodations, activities, travel guides, recommendations, and supporting content into a logical and scalable structure. Travel platforms often contain diverse content types, so careful organization was essential to prevent the experience from feeling complicated or overwhelming. Related information was grouped together to help users move naturally between destinations, activities, trip details, and planning tools. Important actions and frequently accessed content were given stronger visibility, while additional information remained accessible through supporting navigation. I also considered future growth, ensuring the architecture could support additional destinations, services, and features without disrupting the overall experience. This structured foundation improved usability and created a more predictable user journey.

Destination Discovery Experience

The destination discovery experience was designed to inspire users while helping them quickly find relevant places, activities, and travel information. I focused on balancing exploration with practicality, creating layouts that combined engaging visuals with clear content organization. Destinations were presented through structured cards, categories, featured collections, and filtering options that made browsing easier and more enjoyable. Important information such as highlights, travel details, activities, and recommendations was organized into clear sections so users could compare options without feeling overloaded with information. The goal was to create an experience that supported both casual exploration and purposeful planning while helping users move naturally from inspiration to action.

Visual Design & Interface

The visual direction was created to reflect the excitement and inspiration associated with travel while maintaining clarity and usability throughout the experience. I used strong typography, balanced spacing, structured layouts, engaging imagery, and consistent components to establish a clean and approachable interface. Visual hierarchy was carefully considered to help users distinguish destinations, categories, details, actions, and supporting information without confusion. The interface combined attractive visual presentation with practical usability, ensuring that content remained easy to scan across different devices and screen sizes. Consistent patterns across pages and features helped create familiarity, allowing users to navigate confidently while enjoying a cohesive and memorable travel experience.

Interaction Design & Prototyping

After defining the structure and visual direction, I created interactive prototypes to explore how users would move through the platform and complete important tasks. The prototypes demonstrated destination exploration, itinerary creation, filtering, content discovery, navigation, and other key user journeys. I focused on creating predictable interactions that provided clear feedback and supported smooth transitions between different sections of the product. Important actions were designed to remain easy to discover, while navigation patterns helped users understand where they were and what they could do next. Prototyping also allowed me to refine content relationships, reduce unnecessary complexity, and improve the overall flow before final implementation. The result was a more connected and intuitive travel experience.

Final Outcome & Design System

The final Travel Guide product combined thoughtful research, structured information architecture, engaging destination experiences, refined visual design, and consistent interactions into one cohesive platform. I developed reusable design components and clear standards for typography, spacing, cards, navigation, forms, filters, buttons, and other interface elements to maintain consistency throughout the product. This design system created a scalable foundation that could support future destinations, services, and travel features while preserving the overall experience. By simplifying complex travel information and organizing content around user goals, Travel Guide delivered a modern platform that helps users explore, plan, and manage trips more confidently. The final result was an accessible, flexible, and visually engaging travel experience designed to support users from their first inspiration to their completed journey.
